WHY ARE WINTER TIRES IMPORTANT?

With cold and slippery weather, many people don't find the need to install winter tires. However, there are some important benefits and safety measures that you need to know. So why install winter tires?

Special Compound

When the temperature drops below 7 degrees Celsius, the rubber compound found in summer and all-season tires begin to harden, significantly reducing the grip on the road. However, winter tires combat this issue because they are specifically designed to remain flexible and soft in freezing temperatures as low as -30 degrees Celcius.

Ultimate Traction

Winter tires are designed with deeper grooves and sharp, irregular edges that allow more movement as it essentially "attaches" onto ice and snow that may be on the road. A more aggressive tread pattern also reduces the chances of ice and snow build-up.

Reduces Hydroplaning

Hydroplaning occurs when water gets ahead of your tires faster than the weight of your vehicle can push it out of the way. This can cause your car to slide uncontrollably and winter tires reduce this with the grooves and edges they offer.
